The DD-2 was first digital delay in a stompbox, ever. Back in the early 80s, Roland used tooffer a flagshipstudio rack sized delay unit called aSDE-3000, and with a bit of ingenuity they managed tocram the large IC chip from that unit into a compact pedal. These early ‘large chip’ digital delays have a sweet, natural sound, whereas some later digital delays have been criticised for being a bit sterile. This sounds magnificent and is surely a worthy addition for both it’s delicious tone and historical significance.
