Gretsch G6120 Nashville Blue Shaded 2002

Gretsch 6120 Nashville, made in Japan 2002, rare blueshaded finish. This one certainly has a commanding presence! It dates to the very last year of Gretsch being owned by Fred Gretsch, grandson of the founder, before the company was sold to Fender. The 6120 was originally designed in collaboration with the legendary Chet Atkins, and has been played by a whole swathe of legends over it’s rich history. The Terada-made instruments are famously beautifully built, and this one is totally spot-on from top to tail. The ‘blue shaded’ finish is certainly uncommon,6120sare most commonly very very orange, so this is instantly eye catching. The gold hardware has aged to a more mellow look, and really, the whole guitar oozes class and looks totally stunning. The Filtertron pickups deliver: plenty of cut and snarl, but heaps of body and bass, and the volume and tone controls allow for a lot of tonal manipulation. The body springs back at you with every touch, itreplies eloquently to a light touch and absolutely sings when strummed hard. The Bigsby is perfect on this body, it really opens up a whole lot of expressive capabilities. This outrageous character will certainly be the life of the party!

Cosmetic condition notes:minor finish wear. There’s some light scratching on the back in the ‘buckle rash’ area, as well as a handful of very minor scratches around the body. The gold hardware has some significant natural discolouartion over time. Overall: excellentcondition (8.5/10)

Playing conditionnotes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have very minor wear, they’re inreasonable shape, 7/10.Proper cool guitar!
