Fender Standard Jazz Bass Ice Blue Metallic 2003

Fender Standard Jazz Bass, made in Mexico, ice blue metallic, 2003. It’s awesome the way these classic 60s style finishes age over time; this tasty number would’ve started out a pretty sky-blue, but it’s yellowed to this understated, classy sage-green. The dark rosewood board and golden satin maple headstock add to the understated, well-worn charm; it’s very pretty. This was a good quality, simple and effective bass in it’s heyday, and it still ticks those boxes today. The neck is slim and quick, and the well-played satin finish is pretty slick in the hands. Tone-wise, this has the precise and snappy tone you’d expect from a J; it’s a nicely balanced tone that’s understated and refined. If you’re after an honest player that’ll do the hard yards while maintaining a certain coastal-cool, this is your to charm you and your friends and acquaintances.

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Headstock has some marks on the end and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, just some minor dimples on the back. The back has a couple of light surface scratches, mostly on the back edge, no major marks. The sides have a few marks: dimples on both horns, a couple of minor dents on the shoulder, some dents and scuffs near the jack. The front is pretty tidy, just some light play scratches on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing conditionnotes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some very minor wear but are looking excellent, 9/10 for fret life left. Set up with fresh 45/105s.
